Abashera revamped FAQ

What differs Abashera revamped from earlier versions of Abashera?

Abashera revamped (2.X) is a complete remake compared to earlier versions of Abashera (1.X). There are new beasts, lots of more missions, more natural movement, more detailed landscapes, more sound and music, the Maze Editor is way more advanced, and a lot of bugs are solved. Abashera revamped is in many ways a completely new game compared to Abashera 1.X.

The game is too fast!

In the game menu, click on Settings then on Performance and set the appropriate game speed at the Game speed delay option.

Up ^

The screen turns white! or There are no textures (images)!

Abashera revamped uses 32 bit OpenGL graphics. Set your screen to 32 bit "True Color". If that doesn't help then change resolution to 1024 X 768 pixels. If that doesn't help either check if you need to update your graphic card's drivers or settings.
If you see some textures but some surfaces are blank then your graphics card may not support textures larger than 256x256 pixels, such is the case with some older Voodoo cards for instance.
There's an issue regarding the Nvidia GeForce 4 Ti graphics card which I (and I'm not alone) haven't been able to find a solution to. It seems to be a compability problem with that card and some other hardware that affects some OpenGL applications in such a way that textures are not displayed. For those of you who have this problem there's not much else to do than to wait for an update from Nvidia.

Here are the latest drivers from Nvidia: www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp.

How do I push around objects?

You can push around some things in the game, these things are all grey stone; square shaped blocks, balls and dodecahedrons.
To push an object, walk towards it and look down. If it does not move it might be blocked by a tree or something. If not, back a few steps and try again.
Balls keep on rolling after being pushed and if they hit another object the energy stored in the ball is passed on to that object making it move.

How do I uninstall or repair Abashera revamped?

Run the installation program and select Uninstall Abashera or Repair Abashera, or use Windows' remove program function.

Up ^

Can I use a joypad, joystick or a gamepad?

Yes, joypads and joysticks are supported but before you can use such a device you have to enable the joypad in the Performance-menu in the game. When using a joystick you may have to tinker with the sensitivity setting in the Performance-menu in order to get it right.

Up ^

Is this game child-safe?

There's some blood and sharp-toothed beasts but no more than what's healthy. I can assure that there are no weapons, no sexism and no bad language except for maybe some crappy grammar in this game.

Up ^

How do I install the new mazes I've downloaded?

You unzip them and put them in the "Mazes"-folder in the Abashera directory, usually found in C:\Programs\Abashera\ . The game will then find them and list them automatically.

Up ^

How do I use the 3D editor?

Click here for a step by step guide to make your own 3D mazes and landscapes.

Why is there no happy sun in the background of the description of my mazes in the game?

The sun only appears when the mazes have been checked by me or any of my helpers; the background sun is a sign that the maze has been downloaded from this site.

That's Maria's voice. Maria is the woman I live happily with since the middle of the nineties.

Up ^

The main character in this game, what kind of critter is it, and is it a he or a she?

Up ^

What 3D program have you used to make this game?

None. I've used a pocket calculator and a few blocks of cross-ruled paper. Old school!

Up ^

What's that rose smell all about??

Err.. The early CD-packages smell of roses because the spray glue I used to fasten the labels with was perfumed. I swear that it said nothing about that on the can.

I think I've found a bug!

E-mail a description of the error to me as soon as possible.

I want to distribute your game or be a reseller!

Why? Abashera revamped is free nowadays, however, if you wish to distribute it in some way, with a magazine, cereals or whatnot, please contact me.

Up ^

Where do you get your ideas from?

I'm a multi-dimensional deity who steals ideas from one dimension in order to exploit them in another. I made a fortune out of Rubik's Cube in the Blue Zone.

Up ^

How high is your IQ?

Dunno, it of course fluctuates depending on mood and amount of caffeine consumed, but lately I haven't encountered anything which is possible to understand that I haven't felt that I could be able to comprehend if it should interest me.
IQ can't be measured in exact figures, and anyone attempting to drops a few points in my eyes just due to that.

I want to employ your for a project of mine!

If it's artsy enough and the payment is good then I'm all ears.

Up ^

I'm a gallery owner or a curator and I want to exhibit your art!

As long as I don't have to pay (anything else but a reasonable percentage of the sales) to exhibit in your gallery and it's kept on a professional level then I might be interested.
