The Softer the Skin the Mightier the Beast - Ju mjukare skinn desto mäktigare best

Even if I seem to be rather productive there are sometimes years of preparations and planning behind each painting, the fact that I finish about 20-30 paintings and just as many sculptures each year is because I have about that many projects "in the pipe" at the same time.

I saw this painting before me last spring and made the sketch you can see inset in the photo below. Last summer, after a low-intense search a suitable ship was found in the shape of a vintage plastic model kit of the Nippon Maru in a flea market.

This autumn I sculpted the beast; and what was supposed to be just a three-dimensional sketch became a piece of art of its own.

One of the ideas I abandoned was to write the title of the painting on a painted banner below the dragon, for a short while I thought this suitable due to that the painting shares some similarities with a pub sign. But I rejected this since it would disturb the impression of something really being there instead of just being painted. During the completion of the painting I realized that it was necessary to bind the dragon with a magic knot in order to keep it in the painting. Do not open until D-day!

It's by the way -30 ºC (-22 ºF) outside my studio when I write this. I should have been far, far down south checking the possibilities for establishing a southern base by now, but the usual curse went off - as custom is - and I got stuck for yet another while. I was on the verge to leave though, and had I done so I would have ended up in the middle of a natural disaster. But I think I'd preferred the southern one though, if I had got the option to choose.

and you write well too!
why don't you do some story telling with visuals, like the creators of Asterix and Obelix -Uderzo and Goscinny --and you could single handedly do the job of both, the wordsmith as well as the line-n-coloursmith!
May be you already have done such projects..
Impression that you are a good person seems to be getting stronger..
