THE SACRIFICIAL ALTAR - BAPTISM OF FIRE
1996
62 X 100 cm (24'' X 39'')
Oil and acrylic on wood, gloss varnish.

In a dream I walked trough a desolate landscape filled with buildings abandoned since long ago, some of them were fallen into disrepair. After a while I arrived to a stage-like complex. In the middle of this complex was a sacrificial altar. On the walls blood was sprayed as from cut off veins. I walked to the altar and put my hand on it. What then happened is unclear. I felt that my body was filled with energy and that I was going to catch fire. A burning sphere bounced around in my body. I awoke lying on my back with both hands over solar plexus, I was very warm, like fire. This didn't feel sexual, it just felt strange. Maybe, (there's always a maybe, if it's not someone's a liar) it was a so called kundalini experience, the true baptism; the baptism of fire.
